The Sogorea Te’ Land Trust
2021-present
https://sogoreate-landtrust.org/ The Sogorea Te’ Land Trust is an Indigenous women-led land trust rooted in the Lisjan Ohlone homeland of the San Francisco Bay Area. Founded to advance Indigenous land return, cultural revitalization, and environmental stewardship, the Trust works to rematriate land—restoring it to Indigenous care rather than extractive ownership. Through land return agreements, community partnerships, ceremony, and education, Sogorea Te’ supports Ohlone sovereignty, intergenerational knowledge transmission, and healing relationships between people and place. Its work challenges settler-colonial land systems while modeling alternative futures grounded in responsibility, reciprocity, and Indigenous governance.
